Pa'lante! A Decade of Impact
June 21, 2024
Alongside community partners, local businesses and supporters, the Latino Equity Fund celebrated its 10th anniversary as the region's only Latinx-led community fund. The event took place at Bow Market in Somerville and it featured 39 vendors, from local restaurants representing nine Latin American countries to performances and live music hitting all the Latinx genres like Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia and Jarocho.
Latinidad was the theme of the night, highlighting surprise performances by local organizations such as Samba Viva, Veronica Robles Cultural Center, Grooversity, Fraternidad Folklorica Boliviana and Mariachi Estrella. The entire venue was pumping high-energy sounds brought by DJ Tavos, Vinylindex and DJNxAndres.
The event also brought incredible Latinx cuisine from James Beard award semifinalist La Royal and community favorites like Vejigantes, Carolicious, Hot Box, Southern Pines Diner Car, Saus and Buenas. Plenty of sweets also were the highlight of the night freshly made by Elenas Bakeshop, Potosinas Snacks, Maca, Fauve Chocolateur, and Panes Artesanales de Mexico.
The event paid homage to Aixa Beauchamp, LEF's Co-Founder and Co-Chair for the decade of dedication she has provided to the fund to get it to where it is today. In traditional Latino fashion, Aixa was crowned as the event's Madrina with support from community partners and the original 12 leaders who started LEF in 2013.
LEF is thankful for the key partners that made this community event possible. Big shoutout to our sponsors, Yawkey Foundation, The Boston Foundation, Eastern Bank Foundation, State Street, Point32Health Foundation, MFS, Torres Family Foundation, and Beth Israel Lahey, for supporting such a wonderful evening!
