Pathways to Equity: The 2023 Annual Report

At the Boston Foundation, we believe that closing the gaps of our region’s greatest disparities opens pathways to opportunity, prosperity and equity.

We organize our work—our civic leadership, including our convenings, research and public policy campaigns—as well as our grantmaking around four pathways:

 Nurturing Strong Beginnings
 Building Economic Opportunity
 Advancing Community Wealth
 Amplifying Community Leadership

These pathways were developed through a deep collaboration between members of our staff and Board of Directors—and informed by the wisdom of those in the communities we serve.

This annual report is organized around our four pathways to equity. We offer deep thanks to our nonprofit partners who collaborated with us on this report and especially to those who shared their personal and inspiring stories with us.
