Twenty organizations to share $1 million in Safety Net Grants
The two-year, $50,000 grants provide general operating support to organizations meeting critical needs in their communities
February 12, 2025
Boston - The Boston Foundation announced today that 20 organizations from across the region will receive $50,000 in general operating support over the next two years in the latest round of the Safety Net Grants program.
The new nonprofit partners were recognized today alongside the announcement of an expanded and expedited special round of the Safety Net Grants program for Spring 2025. The 20 organizations were selected by community members from dozens of nonprofit and community organizations over two rounds of reviews, from more than 140 who applied. The community-led review process is a hallmark of the Safety Net Grants program, which compensates the community members for their time and effort.
Traditionally, Safety Net Grants are awarded twice each year, with $1 million in general operating support grants per round. The special round for Spring 2025 is being changed in size and scope to ensure that needed funds are made accessible as soon as possible, with as few obligations for grant seekers as possible at a time when many nonprofits find their funding under threat from several angles. Details of the Spring application process, which begins February 18, will be available at tbf.org/safetynetgrants when available.
The following organizations will receive $50,000 in general operating support, payable over two years in this round of awards.
