Asian Community Fund announces $240,000 in grants to community organizations

July 19, 2022

Boston – The Asian Community Fund (ACF) at the Boston Foundation today announced $240,000 in grants to 35 nonprofits, in the first round of grants made through the new fund. The funding was made possible in part by an allocation from the Boston Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Fund targeting Asian-focused organizations.

The ACF leveraged those funds to give out $100,000 in general operating support grants to 20 organizations serving AAPI communities under additional strain due to the pandemic and advancing a just, equitable recovery, plus $120,000 in general operating support to direct-service AAPI community organizations to participate in an emerging new initiative called the AAPI Mental Health Collaborative.

“Systemic barriers, including cultural stigma, racial trauma, dire workforce shortages, and inequitable access to culturally and linguistically competent care have made the COVID pandemic and its aftermath even more challenging for AAPI residents in Greater Boston,” said Danielle Kim, Director of the Asian Community Fund. “With the launch of this collaborative, we hope to unlock collaboration, pool ideas and resources across multiple community-based organizations, and incubate new strategies that can better serve local AAPI residents.”
