Boston Foundation recognizes Institute for Nonprofit Management and Leadership with $100,000 grant
‘Out of the Blue’ grant recognizes INML for impact on Greater Boston’s nonprofit sector

Boston – The Boston Foundation, Greater Boston’s community foundation, has announced the awarding of a $100,000 ‘Out of the Blue’ grant to theInstitute of Nonprofit Management and Leadership at Boston University, to enhance and continue its training of present and future nonprofit leaders.
The unsolicited ‘Out of the Blue’ grants are awarded by the Foundation to recognize exceptional leadership and programmatic excellence in regional nonprofits.
“INML has given hundreds of local nonprofit leaders the opportunity to grow their own leadership skills, strengthening organizations throughout Greater Boston that have a significant social impact,” said Paul S. Grogan, President and CEO of the Boston Foundation. “I am pleased and hopeful that this new grant will give them opportunities to continue their innovations in nonprofit executive education.”
Founded in 2007, the mission of the Institute for Nonprofit Management and Leadership is to educate, support, and connect the next generation of nonprofit leaders. In addition to its cornerstone Certificate Program the Institute conducts research and supports a burgeoning network of practitioners through fellowships, teaching and mentoring opportunities, and access to university resources. The institute is part of the Boston University School of Management.
The Boston Foundation has provided past financial support to the Institute, and offered scholarships to regional nonprofit leaders to take part in INML certificate programs.

The Foundation’s Board of Directors awards Out of the Blue grants to exemplary nonprofits each year. These unrestricted one-time grants recognize exemplary organizations that have an impressive history of accomplishment, have demonstrated effective and collaborative community leadership, and are directed by strong, stable executive and volunteer leadership. This funding is awarded at the discretion of the Board based on staff recommendation and is not open to application or inquiry.
