Civic leadership is central to the Boston Foundation’s role in the Greater Boston community and our region. As a civic leader, we are proud to partner with individuals and other institutions seeking to effect positive change—from our donors to nonprofits to policymakers and others who care deeply about our common future. We believe that open, frank discourse is fundamental to a truly rich learning experience and can, in some cases, lead to positive action.

In the coming months, we will be hosting a series of conversations on the topic of reparations. We thank and honor those scholars and leaders here and across America who have devoted their lives to this issue—and are excited to be inviting a wider audience into this important conversation.

In the coming year, we will be using our platform to feature experts on this issue through a series of important dialogues. These conversations will be a learning experience for the Boston Foundation as well as everyone who joins us.

I welcome those of you who are new to this topic and those who have been studying and grappling with it for years.

I hope you will join us.
