The Boston Foundation has four basic fund types that can be established easily by completing a contribution form and with a minimum contribution of $10,000. All of these funds offer the maximum allowable charitable tax deduction, can be opened with most types of assets and can be the recipient of planned gifts to help you create a personalized and meaningful philanthropic plan with help from the Boston Foundation.  

Donor Advised Fund

Establish a giving account in the form of a Donor Advised Fund at the Boston Foundation and make grant recommendations at your convenience to your favorite charities. Get started by calling the Office of Development and Donor Services at 617-338-1700 or emailing our Director of Development.

Named Fund within the Permanent Fund for Boston

Give to Greater Boston’s only endowment fund, which supports organizations focused on the most pressing needs of our city. Most named funds that make up the Permanent Fund for Boston are established through legacy and planned gifts. Call 617-338-3910 or email our Senior Director of Planned Giving to explore your options.

Field of Interest Fund

Choose an area of interest (say, education), a place (e.g., the Greenway) or a particular population (such as immigrants) to support in Greater Boston. Take the first step by emailing our Associate Vice President of Leadership Giving or call 617-338-3910.

Designated Fund
